Skinkers to Provide Information Broadcast Technology to Enable NPR to Deliver News to Users' Desktops

(PRWEB) August 29, 2007 -- Skinkers, the market leader in information broadcast technology, announced today that they have supplied desktop technology to www.NPR.org, the worldwide news organization. This Software as a service (SaaS) technology will enable NPR to deliver news headlines, the hourly NPR Newscasts and other information to users' desktops. Skinkers provides information broadcast technology to numerous major news organizations, including: The Wall Street Journal, CNN International, BBC and the Guardian.

Using this technology, NPR.org now can push relevant content, including news alerts, to its online users. The news application can be configured to deliver and display news feeds in three familiar formats: a desktop ticker, desktop alerts and inside a feed browser. The user can also access a button on the desktop ticker to listen to the hourly NPR Newscast. The application can be downloaded from http://www.npr.org/desktopalerts

Skinkers provides a simple way to push and manage news feeds (RSS) with this user-friendly desktop application. Users can decide what kind of news will be transmitted through which desktop delivery channel, alert, ticker or browser. In addition, users can add RSS feeds from other websites. The alerts are delivered directly to the desktop in text and pictures, displaying in front off all other open applications.
